New Acqusition for the Moderna Museet, Stockholm

The Moderna Museet, Stockholm has recently purchased a major, late painting by Alice Neel following its successful exhibition in the Fall of 2008. Don Perlis and Jonathan (1982) is one of the few paintings Neel made of a father and child and depcits the painter, Don Perlis, with his son, Jonathan, who suffers from cerebral palsy. The Moderna Museet is the first European museum to purchase a painting by Neel although she is also represented in the Tate collection. In the Fall of 2010 Moderna Museet, Malmo will host the Alice Neel retrospective exhibition organised by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, which also travels to the Whitechapel Art Galery, London.
