//1900 January 28. Born in Merion Square, Pennsylvania. Moved to Colwyn when she was about three months old. //1918 Graduated from high school.

//1921 Enrolled in the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now Moore College of Art). //1924 Summer, attended the Chester Springs summer school of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Met Carlos Enriquez.
//1925 Graduated from the Philadelphia School of Design for Women. Married Carlos Enriquez and traveled with him to Havana, Cuba. //1926 December 26, daughter Santillana Enriquez born in Cuba. //1927 Summer, returned to the United States with Santillana. First visited her family in Colwyn; in the fall, moved with Carlos and Santillana to New York. December, Santillana died of diphtheria. //1928 November 24, daughter Isabella, called Isabetta, born.

//1930 May 1, Carlos left with Isabetta to visit Cuba. Productive summer of painting followed by a nervous breakdown on August 15. Hospitalized at Orthopedic Hospital, Philadelphia. //1931 Winter, attempted suicide and sent to the Wilmington Hospital. Briefly returned to the Orthopedic Hospital and then to the suicide ward of the Philadelphia General Hospital. Summer, spent at Dr. Ludlum's Sanatorium, where she recovered sufficiently to be sent home. September, home to Colwyn, then visited Nadya Olyanova in Stockton, New Jersey. Met Kenneth Doolittle. //1932 Moved with Kenneth Doolittle to Greenwich Village, New York City. Participated in Washington Square Outdoor Art Show where she met John Rothschild. //1933 December, enrolled on the Public Works of Art Project (PWAP). Included in exhibition at the Boyer Gallery in Philadelphia. //1934 Winter, Kenneth Doolittle destroyed many of Neel's paintings. //1935 Joined the rolls of the WPA/Federal Art Project, Easel Division. Moved to West 17th Street, New York. //1938 Moved to Spanish Harlem. Included in exhibition The New York Art Group, held at ACA Gallery, New York. //1939 September 14, Richard Neel born.

//1941 September 3, Hartley Stockton Neel born. //1944 March, solo exhibition at Pinacotheca Gallery, New York. //1946 Father died.

//1950 December, solo exhibition at ACA Gallery, New York. //1951 Solo exhibition at New Playwrights Theater, New York. //1954 Mother died. Second exhibition at ACA Gallery. //1959 Appeared in Alfred Leslie and Robert Frank's film, Pull My Daisy.

//1960 Neel's paintings first reproduced in Art News. //1961 Richard graduated from Columbia College. //1962 Included in group exhibition Figures held at Kornblee Gallery, New York. September, moved to 300 West 107th Street. //1963 Spring, Hartley Neel graduated from Columbia College. October, first Graham Gallery exhibition. Richard Neel and Nancy Greene married. //1964 Richard graduated from Columbia Law School. //1965 Traveled to Europe with Hartley. //1967 Granddaughter Olivia born to Nancy and Richard. //1969 Received an Arts and Letters award from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, New York. Hartley graduated with an M.D. from Tufts University. Summer, traveled to Mexico with Richard and Nancy. Traveled to Russia with John Rothschild.

//1970 Hartley Neel and Virginia Taylor married. //1971 Awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from her alma mater Moore College of Art (formerly the Philadelphia School of Design for Women). Nancy and Richard's twins, Alexandra and Antonia, born. //1972 Included in the Whitney Museum of American Art Annual. Traveled to Greece and Africa with Hartley. //1974 Major retrospective of Neel's portraits held at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Victoria, Nancy and Richard's fourth daughter, born. //1975 Major retrospective of Neel's work held at the Georgia Museum of Art. Ginny and Hartley's daughter, Elizabeth, born. John Rothchild died. //1976 Elected to the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. //1978 Ginny and Hartley's son, Andrew, born. //1979 Received a National Women's Caucus for Art award for outstanding achievement in art, presented by President, Jimmy Carter. Major retrospective exhibition held in Connecticut at the University of Bridgeport and the Slivermine Guild of Artists.

//1981 Major solo exhibition held at the Artists' Union, Moscow.
//1984 October 13. Died in New York City.
